
So, first things first, the player finds themselves in the world of Riven with a mission, to take one danger out of the equation and rescue someone else. This is the kind of game you won't want spoiled, so if you haven't played it, do not click on my spoiler tags, because you will want to play it. All you really need to know is that in this setting people can write books that can transport them to the world described in the book.

I recommend this game to ANYONE who likes puzzling games, games that drip atmosphere and mood, or games with an immersive world. Riven is a masterclass of puzzle, atmosphere, and writing. Now I've just finished Riven and if you haven't played it: PLAY IT. Back in the day I played IV and didn't understand anything that was going on.
